Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won two State House of Assembly seats in Kogi state.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) also won a seat in Saturday elections conducted across the 25 constituencies in the state.

The seats were ‘snatched’ from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who won all 25 seats in 2019.

PDP candidate for Ogori-Magongo state constituency election, Hon. Bode Ogunmola has been declared winner of the Saturday election.

Declaring the result of the election, Mr Ekundayo Mejebi, returning officer said Ogunmola defeated Major Akerejola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogunmola scored 2,910 votes to defeat his closest rival, Major Akerejola who scored 2163 votes.

Opposition party, PDP also won the State Assembly seat for Bassa constituency.

Daku Sunday of the PDP won the election with 8399 votes, defeating the candidate of APC who polled 7189 votes.

African Democratic Congress (ADC) won Yagba West constituency seat.

The party’s candidate, Ibikunle Simon Idowu (Kuli), polled 6551 votes to defeat APC candidate, Yemisi Oshaloto who garnered 6050 votes.

The ruling APC has won all other assembly seats that have been officially announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

Meanwhile, two female candidates have been declared winners of the just concluded House of Assembly elections in Kogi state.

The two candidates; Mrs Comfort Nwuchola and Mrs. Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya, won Ibaji and Ijumu state constituency seats respectively.

Both Nwuchola and Adeleye-Ishaya were candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Both were also the first females to represent their respective constituencies in the state assembly.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday, declared Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya as the winner of the Ijumu State House of Assembly election.
