Mixed reaction yesterday trailed the dissolution of boards, commissions and development centre coordinators by Governor David Umahi barely two days after the governorship and House of Assembly election in Ebonyi State.

Governor Umahi in the early hours of yesterday announced the immediate dissolution of the boards, commissions and development center coordinators.

In a statement signed by the secretary to the state government and coordinating commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala and made available to LEADERSHIP said that dissolution excludes the Ebonyi State University Governing Council.

“In view of the foregoing, the development centre coordinators are to handover all government property in their possession including their official vehicles to the office of the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, on or before the close of work on Tuesday 21st March, 2023.”

Ugbala in the statement also directed members of dissolved boards and commissions to handover government property in their possession to their parent ministries on or before the close of work on Tuesday 21st March, 2023.

He stated that the state government shall constitute a transition committee who will advise the Government whether to reconstitute, the Boards, Commissions and Development Centre Coordinators or leaves it for the incoming administration.

“The state government has taken note of members of the Boards, Commissions and Development Centre Coordinators who served very well in their various offices and would be accommodated during reconstitution.

“All concerned must comply immediately to this important Government directive,” he said.

Some of the members of the boards, commissions and development centre coordinators who spoke to LEADERSHIP on grounds of anonymity expressed sadness that after staking their neck for the victory of APC in the governorship and House of Assembly election, they are rewarded with the dissolution of their appointments.
