Afrikings Homes Ltd yesterday adopted the practice pitch 1.of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja
The adoption follows the success story of the adoption campaign initiative of the Sunday Dare-led Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Afrikings Homes adoption entails re-grassing of the pitch with nursery seeds and maintenance of the such for two years.
Afrikings Homes chairman/CEO Kingsley Awodi, said the full re-grassing of the pitch will take eight weeks before handing over to the ministry after which the company will be responsible for its maintenance for two years.
Speaking on the initiative, Sports Minister Sunday Dare, praised Mr Kingsley Awodi saying the initiative which commenced three years ago has recounted a lot of successes.
“This young man has taken a bold step and deserved to be praised. This, when done, will be part of the achievements that we have delivered.
“When about three years ago we started the Adopt-A-Pitch-Initiative, it was with the intention of rescuing our sporting infrastructure and also to improve the welfare of our athletes,” Dare said.
