Protest: Stop Debasing Womanhood, APC Tells Nasarawa PDP

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, has lambasted the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the “carnival of nudity” by its women members in the guise of protest.

The ruling party through its spokesman, Chief Douglas Otaru said pushing women to protest in nude over the outcome of the last governorship election was debasing and outrageous.

“To us in the APC, the stage-managed embarrassing carnival of nudity is a charade, show of shame and worthless debasement of our women who were brainwashed with peanuts to demonstrate the most expensive, immoral and blasphemous desecration of their bodies which supposedly should be the temple of their creator,” he noted in a statement yesterday, in Lafia the state capital.

According to him, there were legitimate windows of opportunities available for PDP to seek redress rather than taking to the streets in nudity to protest the outcome of an election acclaimed by both domestic and local observers as fair and credible.

He said, “We are not oblivious of the antics of the opposition aimed at scuttling the peace and security of the state that the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration has sustained over the years. Further to that, we could see their desperate attempt to whip up  sentiments in an apparent move to discredit the entire electoral process which has been adjudged as the freest and fairest contest ever in the history of the country.

“We have maintained this long golden silence in the APC owing  to the fact that we have a duty to continue to maintain law and order, protect lives and property across divides and therefore, shouldn’t be seen joining frays on issues with the weeping  PDP.

“It is  most unfortunate, despicable, odious  and unpatriotic act  for the opposition PDP  to  condone  acts that are uncivilized in a modern  society.

“The ruling APC maintained a noteworthy silence while she watched the disgusting melodrama of the opposition PDP since after their loss at the recently concluded general elections which produced His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi A Sule as the winner of the election.”

The statement maintained that although the party   was not averse to protest in any form of civil pursuits, such desperation as demonstrated by the PDP is uncultured and alien to any known democratic norms and processes which should be condemned in its totality.

He said the ruling APC in Nasarawa State will continue to refrain from any counter action capable of causing breakdown of law and order, stating that  where such olive branch is taken for granted,  the party  will be forced not to tolerate any form of harassment or intimidation of the citizens of the state by the opposition party.
