Again, 9 Die, 5 Injured In Bauchi Fatal Crashes

Barely a week after 25 persons died in a ghastly multiple motor accidents in Bauchi State, another nine persons have been killed with five others injured in two separate road crashes in the State on Wednesday.

Confirming the incidents, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the State, Yusuf Abdullahi, said the first crash occurred on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at about 0625hrs along the ever-busy Jos-Bauchi Road.

He said the accident involved a Toyota Hiace with a registration number KGG 26 LG and a Peugeot Boxer J5 but without a registration number, both used for commercial purposes.

“5 male adults were involved in the crash who all died as they were burnt beyond recognition due to the fire that engulfed the vehicles following a tyre burst as well as loss of control (LOC).

“The burnt corpses and the vehicles were handed over to NPF Toro Division as reported by DRC CS Kangtun, OC, Zebra for the Unit Commander,” he stated.

Abdullahi further explained that the Dass Station Office of FRSC also reported the death of four persons and various degrees of injuries to five other persons in another fatal road crash.

He said the vehicle involved was a green Ford Galaxy used for commercial purposes on the fleet of NURTW while the probable cause of the crash was a worn-out tyre and loss of control (TYY/ LOC).

“9 people comprising 8 male adults and 1 female adult were involved in the crash out of which 4 people, all males were killed while 5 comprising 4 male adults and 1 female adult were variously injured.

“The type of injuries were bruises and fractures while the obstruction has been cleared to allow free flow of traffic in the area,” the Sector Commander said.

He added that both the injured victims and dead bodies were taken to the General Hospital in Dass for treatment and confirmation.
