A chieftain of the Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has urged Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide palliatives for Igbos attacked by political thugs during the last general elections.

Following the victory of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Lagos State, during the last presidential and house of representatives election, some markets populated by Igbo were burnt with goods worth millions destroyed.

However, Isiguzoro urged the governor to compensate the Igbos affected by the attacks.

Speaking with newsmen, lsigusoro said, “We support Sanwo-Olu’s reelection based on our consultation with APC governors in the Southeast and other Igbo leaders, and so on. We are using this opportunity to donate N100 million to all Igbos who lost their properties, lives and where molested to pay their hospital bills; we will channel the money appropriately.

“We still want to tell Sanwo-Olu to support Igbo who have lost family members, commodities, and shops. The Lagos State government should have  palliatives for them, and we are demanding compensation for them.

“He should repay the Igbos, we have picked up the ball by donating N100 million, but we expect that the Lagos State governor whose responsibility is to protect lives and properties must ensure that he helps the Igbos to douse the tension.”
