It was all smiles and joy for students and parents of the popular Disabled People’s Community, Karonmajigi, Abuja, who came in their numbers to support and celebrate the scholarship awards to their children and wards by the Agufore Brothers Foundation on March 19 in Abuja.

The event which saw 15 students of J.S.S Karonmajigi and J.S.S Kunchi Goro screened by the authorities was celebrated at a reception organised to award them the scholarships.

Speaking before the presentation, one of the founders, Engr Kingsley Esohwode  Agofure, explained why he chose to go into charity, adding that his dad was a giver, and even as a teacher, he did everything to help the helpless, which is his biggest motivation today.

“I want you students to know that my parents were teachers. So, I grew up in a family where education is very important. My dad can starve to send his children to school. Because of that, I’m an engineer and I’m going to strive to make sure I keep on the legacy of my father.

“The logo symbolises four brothers. We decided that because our father is a lover of education, our focus would be on education too. This motivated us to do what we are doing today.

“Secondary school is just the beginning. If you do very well, I can send you to the university. You must do very well. I won’t want to pour water into a basket. I want to help people that would become governors, presidents, ministers, doctors, engineers, etc. I’m not even from the North, I am from Delta. I chose you for a reason. Don’t disappoint me. I wish you good luck,” he said.

Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, CEO of Peace Ambassador Agency, also stated told the students to be serious with their studies if they want to continue enjoying the scholarship awards.

“If you people did not take your studies seriously, you wouldn’t have been among those chosen for the scholarship. I want you to continue and make the organization proud so that they would know they aren’t putting money in a basket,” he said.

The teachers, students, and representatives of the emir of disabled people who couldn’t hide their joy showered encomiums on the Agofure Brothers Foundation, adding that they wouldn’t let him down.

Presentation of scholarship letters to  representatives of the community and schools was done as JSS Karonmajigi got a cheque for  N510,000 while JSS Kunchi Goro got N450,000.
