The chairman of Ikwuano/Umuahia Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, has advised Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti, to appoint people with proven capacity and integrity into his administration.
The monarch while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Umuahia yesterday said such appointees were urgently required to partner him to actualise his dreams for the state.
He said Otti’s emergency could not have come at a better time when the state is going through severe economic hardship due to poor quality leadership and mismanagement of the resources.
The traditional ruler of Umudiawa autonomous community and chairman, Ndi Eze Ohuhu Council appealed to Otti to avoid gossips, praise singers and political jobbers to focus on his mission.
He advised him to be mindful of those factors that led to the peoples rejection of the Peoples Democratic Party at the polls which he said include impunity and abject neglect of critical stakeholders.
“The outgoing administration so dehumanized the traditional institution, civil servants, and pensioners to the extent that majority of them could barely cater for themselves and their families,” he said.
According to him, it was unfortunate that while state stakeholders like him made several attempts to advise the outgoing governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on how to move the state forward, he made himself inaccessible.
The publisher of the defunct Whispers said the way out now for the state is for Otti to look back to where and how it derailed and effect the necessary remedies just as it handles the present challenge.
