The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, Chief Kenneth Gbagi has filed a petition against the governor-elect, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, before the election petitions tribunal sitting in Asaba, the state capital.

The governorship candidate of APC and deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo Agege had earlier filed his petition to challenge Oborevwori, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who won the election.

Gbagi in his 79-page petition asked the tribunal to address the issue of qualifications of candidates and non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2020.

A former minister of education, Gbagi prayed shortly after filling the petition accompanied by his counsel, Magaji Mato Ibrahim (SAN), to remove those he called rascals and others who have nothing to do with the March 18 gubernatorial election.

According to him, a lot of malpractices including vote buying, distribution of food and wrappers to voters were obvious during the election which he said, were parts of the crimes against the electoral act.

He maintained that the number of votes allocated to candidates was not realistic with the election, believing that by the grace of God, justice will prevail.

“If you declare results that have nothing to do with BVAS, those results wouldn’t count.

“Many people thought it was business as usual, we didn’t go into this election for joke. Don’t forget l founded PDP in 1999 in Delta State, so I had taken my time and by the grace of God, justice will prevail,” he said.
