The director of Media and Publicity, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to Chimamanda Adichie’s open letter to US President, Joe Biden, om the outcome of Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.

Onanuga, who took to his social media page, posted a photo of President Biden on Friday and wrote: “Dear Joe Biden please just trash the open letter by Chimamanda on Nigeria’s election once it gets to your desk. She wrote fiction, inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman Peter Obi.”

He also shared a link with the caption “An apt response to Chimamanda’s tale by the moonlight on Nigeria’s election”.

LEADERSHIP reports Adichie’s open letter to Biden on The Atlantic titled, ‘Nigeria’s Hollow Democracy’ where she criticised the U.S State Department for congratulating President-elect, Bola Tinubu .

In her article, Adichie acknowledged her support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the February 25 election while reiterating that the disappointment felt by many Nigerians was not because their preferred candidate lost but because “the election they had dared to trust was, in the end, so unacceptably and unforgivably flawed.”

Meanwhile, Onanuga’s response to Chimamanda’s open letter to Biden is being criticised by many Nigerians on Twitter where the matter is currently a trending topic.
