No fewer than eight persons have been killed in Atak’Njei, Ungwa Gaiya community of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State after bandits attacked the community.

Atak’Njei is the community housing the Palace of the Atyap Paramount ruler, Agwatyap.

Although the Police authorities or the state government were yet to comment on the attack, the chairman, Zango Kataf local government council, Mr. Francis Sani, revealed that the assailants stormed the community at about 9pm on Wednesday night.

According to sources in the affected community, the bandits attacked at least seven houses during which they shot eight people dead while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

In his reaction, the National President, Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), Mr. Sam Timbuwak Achie, condemned the attack and described it as barbaric.

He tasked all those saddled with the responsibility of securing the people to fish out those behind the series of attacks in Atyap land.
