The Commandant General of the Nigerian Peace Corps, Dr. Mustapha Abubakar, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to consider the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill before him, as a means to address the issue of unemployment in Nigeria. In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Dr. Abubakar stressed the importance of the bill and the urgent need for its implementation.

The Nigerian Peace Corps Bill was transmitted to President Buhari for assent by the 9th National Assembly, with the aim of creating a harmonized version of the bill. Dr. Abubakar believes that the establishment of the Nigerian Peace Corps will lead to the creation of strong institutions that future generations can be proud of.

The Commandant General of the Nigerian Peace Corps emphasized the need for stakeholders to support the agency’s establishment, to ensure that its core mandate of promoting peace and contributing to the sustainable development of the nation is achieved. He also called on the incoming administration to focus on job creation and address insecurity.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with high rates of unemployment and insecurity, the implementation of the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill could be a significant step towards addressing these challenges. The agency’s mandate includes promoting peace, providing employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, and contributing to national development.

Dr. Abubakar urged Nigerians to come together and support the incoming administration in the spirit of national cohesion. He emphasized the critical role of job creation and urged stakeholders to give their necessary support to the Nigerian Peace Corps to become a reality. It is now up to President Buhari to give his assent to the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill and take a significant step towards addressing Nigeria’s unemployment crisis
