Eid-el-Fitr: Be Safety Conscious, FRSC Tells Kwara Road Users

Motorists and other road users in Kwara State have been advised to be safety conscious throughout the Sallah celebrations to avoid carnage on the highways.

The charge came from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Command which said it had deployed 950 personnel and operational equipment to monitor and ensure safety on the roads across the state during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The personnel deployed by the command include 322, special 27 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances and a 70- tonne tow-truck to monitor all roads during the celebrations.

The public education officer of FRSC in the state, Basambo Busari announced this in a statement in Ilorin, yesterday.

Busari said the sector commander of FRSC in the state, Fredrick Ogidan, has ordered the deployment of the personnel for traffic control at strategic locations within Ilorin township and major cities in the state during the Eid-El-Fitri special patrol scheduled to hold  from 20th to 25th April, 2023.

He said the sector commander enjoined the motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations and avoid excessive speeding, overloading, obstruction, use of phone while driving, passenger manifest violation, operation of mechanical deficiency and rickety vehicles, lane discipline /route violation among others.

“In order to achieve free flow of traffic and reduction in road traffic crashes during the festivity, the heavy tow-truck, ambulances and rescue marshals will be stationed along major highways within the state.

“The operation is targeted toward achieving a five percent reduction in road traffic death and injuries being the Corps 2023 Corporate Strategic Goal 1.

“While wishing the good people of the state of Harmony happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the sector commander advised motorists to exercise caution,”Busari stated.
