Ambode Adopts LASU’s Best Graduating Student

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has adopted the best graduating student of the Lagos State University, Fuad Ogunsanya Adetoro with a commitment to personally sponsor his Masters programme in any university of his choice in the world.

He disclosed this while delivering his address at the LASU 2016/2017 academic convocation on Wednesday.

In addition to this, the Governor also gave him a cash gift of five million naira for being the best graduating student with a cumulative Grade Point Aggregate of 4.78.

In his remarks, Ambode pointed  out that the day must  have been divinely ordained, noting that it is usual for a university visitor to attend the first day of university convocation where first degree are awarded.

“But I don’t know why I decided to come. This confirms that there is a divine side to the story. The story of the best graduating student is too compelling to ignore; it makes me reflect my own background too therefore, I hereby adopt him…”

Chatting with the media afterward, Ogunsanya expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s gesture, resolving to make the best use of the scholarship offered to him and the financial gift.

Earlier in his own speech, the university Chancellor, Justice George Oguntade, who has just been appointed as the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, lauded Governor Ambode for the Ready Set Work initiative which the Ambassador noted has been of immense value to the students especially those in the final year .

Turning to the graduating students, the retired judge charged them to be bold, resolute and be ready to face and overcome whatever challenges that will certainly come their way in their journey of life.
