An electoral alliance of registered political parties, under the aegis of Mega Coalition, has said that they will work with All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any registered political party that present good candidates for Anambra, Ekiti and Osun gubernatorial elections.
Reacting to the newly formed Coalition for New Nigeria (CNN), a coalition of parties that had a press briefing on Monday supporting the restructuring of Nigeria and pledging to the dislodge the ruling APC from government in 2019, the Chancellor of Mega Coalition Chief Perry Opara said that Mega Coalition is not in enmity with APC, PDP or any political party in Nigeria.
In his words “ours is a friendly coalition, an electoral alliance for the sole purpose of winning elections. We are not averse to any political party. We are ready to work with APC, PDP or any party that presents good candidates that will provide dividends of democracy and maintain peace and unity in Nigeria.
At Mega Coalition, we see political parties as “vehicles” while candidates are “passengers”.
“The Mega Coalition is the motor park with many vehicles (political parties). Every election is unique and has different peculiarities.
We access the vehicles, check the tyres, the body, the engine, the quantity of fuel, engine oil and capacity, experience and tact of the Driver to get the candidates (passengers) to the destination (victory).
“Mega Coalition gives more attention to candidates than to political leaning. We have robust idea on how to win 2019 elections and we shall try it first with Anambra elections”, Opara said.
He added “We don’t support candidates for the sake of printing posters and mounting billboards. We want to win. So we cannot win by being in enmity with other political parties. We shall win all the way because we have a friendly coalition.”
The Chancellor, Chief Perry Opara who is also the National chairman of NUP revealed that the coalition will soon announce the consensus governorship candidates for Anambra elections and do same for Ekiti and Osun Election
