Nigerian Army troops of the Operation Sahel Sanity has neutralised 21 bandits and rescued three kidnaped victims at Ungwar Doka in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The acting director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this in a press statement, he made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday adding that the onslaught on the bandits was successful based on credible Information received on the bandits’ attacks in the village as the troops quickly responded.
He said, “The gallant troops of Operation Sahel Sanity responded swiftly and immediately mobilized to the general area where they successfully cleared the village of the marauders to the admiration of the locals.
“During the encounter, troops successfully neutralized 21 bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the forest as evident by the trails of blood along the criminals’ escape route.
Onyeuko further announced that the military’s encounter with the bandits resulted in the loss of one officer and two soldiers while two other soldiers were wounded and currently receiving medical treatment in a military medical facility and responding positively.
