The wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mrs Titi Abubakar has decried poor voter enlightenment and education in the grassroots.
Titi Abubakar who disclosed this in Abuja at Atiku Change the Change national summit with the theme: ‘’Changing the Narrative in our Political Culture for Electioneering in Nigeria’’ said that voter enlightenment and education by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the grassroots level is still poor.
She, however, called on the national chairman, Atiku Change the Change Group (ACCG) and the state coordinators of the group to ensure that they carried out a robust enlightenment campaign at the grassroots level.
‘’Voter education and enlightenment at the grassroots level in the nation is still poor, and I am charging the ACCG coordinators and national chairman to ensure that this enlightenment campaigns cut across the 36 states of the federation.
‘’I will like to laud the efforts of ACCG which helped in ensuring Atiku’s emergence as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in Port Harcourt,’’ Titi Abubakar who was represented by Blessing Egbera said.
In his address, the national coordinator, Hon. Kenechukwu Nwadinobi said the forthcoming election in February 2019, offers the PDP unique opportunity, through the ballot, to return back to power.
Nwadinobi lamented that rather than expanding the rich value system of the nation through sustainable government programmes and policies, the country is subjected to strange socioeconomic and political phenomena including insecurity and unemployment.
‘’As a group, we prefer a Nigeria where all the people, elements, resources are working in tandem for the good and growth of all, irrespective of creed, tribe and tongue,’’ he added.
