The president of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Rev Daniel Mbaya, has urged 53 freshly ordained pastors to lead their congregations in prayer over the prevailing economic hardship.

The 53 new pastors who were officially inaugurated as part of activities at the EYN Ministers’ Annual Conference 2025, which entered the weekend, brought the number of pastors administering the church’s doctrines to more than a thousand.

In his address to the ministers at the conference held at the headquarters of the Church in Kwarhi, president of the EYN, Rev Daniel Mbaya, urged the pastors to always pray for Nigeria rather than condemn it due to prevailing hardship.

Mbaya said that as Nigeria experiences what he sees as the worst economic hardship, he would always tell pastors not to curse the country.

“We are to only bless our country,” Mbaya emphasised, adding that despite the hardship, “we mean well for our country, and we shall bless Nigeria.”

The EYN Ministers’ Annual Conference 2025 has pastors from branches across the country in attendance.
The secretary of the Ministers’ Council (the body of the church’s pastors), Rev Lalai Bukar, told newsmen that the conference is designed to refresh all pastors on the church’s doctrines, among other objectives.
