The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called for total compliance with the COVID-19 protocol in all the schools in the territory, to fight against the spread of the dreaded virus as schools resumed in the FCT for the 2021/2022 session.
The FCTA, through the FCT Education Secretariat and Secondary Education Board (SEB), made this known when the team went round schools in the territory to inspect the COVID-19 guideline compliance of students and teachers in schools.
Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, Chairman of the SEB, who spoke on behalf of the team, said they decided to embark on the schools’ inspection to also check the compliance percentage of resumption of students and teachers’ preparedness with regards to neatness and schools facilities.
He said the FCTA is creating enough awareness in schools to ensure total compliance to the COVID-19 protocol, since the country is experiencing the third wave of the virus, thereby urging parents to always make sure that their children are neat and take face marks to schools.
The head teacher of Junior Secondary School, Gwagwalada, Mrs. Adisa Egigogo, assured the team that the compliance of students and teachers in the school to the COVID-19 protocol had been made to be paramount rules that they must obey.
Amongst the schools inspected by the FCTA were Government Secondary School, Gadonasco Science Primary School, Heritage Academic, and Junior Secondary School in Gwagwalada area council of Abuja.
