The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the sack of the party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, over his alleged gross abuse of office.

The APC party chairman in the state, Elder Omeni Sobotie, made the demand in a petition dated March 17, 2025, titled, ‘Petition Against the National Publicity Secretary, Barr Felix Morka For Gross Abuse Of His Office And His Removal,’ and  addressed to the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The petition, made available to LEADERSHIP, said Morka’s  continued tenure in office poses a significant threat to the stability and unity of the party, particularly in Delta State.

While calling for the immediate sack of Morka, over persistent “gross abuse of office” especially his recent pronouncements concerning the activities of the Delta APC Executive Committee, it said Morka issued a notice of disclaimer denouncing the Delta APC Leadership Council as an illegal contraption and stated that the NWC had not given its approval for the establishment of the body.

According to the petition: “I write on behalf of myself, the members of the State Executive Committee, and highly concerned leaders of our great party to formally express our deepest fears regarding the continuous gross abuse of office by the National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka. His recent unilateral pronouncements concerning the activities of the State Executive Committee of the party in Delta state are most disturbing and irresponsible coming from a senior party officer of his stature.

“To begin with, immediately after the list of names of members of the Delta APC Leadership Council to be inaugurated, as recommended by the report of the Delta APC Reconciliation Committee led by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor OON, was released by the SWC, Barr. Morka, without the approval of the National Working Committee (NWC), issued a notice of disclaimer denouncing the Delta APC Leadership Council as an illegal contraption and stated that the NWC had not given its approval for the establishment of the body.

“These comments not only ridicule the industry and enormous resources that were put into generating this lofty idea of establishing a leadership council by committed leaders and stakeholders who genuinely yearned for reconciliation to usher in lasting peace in the Party, but also truncated the inauguration process that was scheduled to take place due to the ensuing confusion and uncertainty following his unbridled and reckless comments.

“Before the dust from his earlier comments could settle, Barr. Morka, acting as if he is on a mission to destroy the party in Delta APC, went on national television, where he told the whole world that the NWC recognises Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege as the authentic leader of the party in Delta state, which he knows to be both misleading and divisive. These statements, obviously made without the approval of the NWC, have had the destabilising effect of polarising and fractionalising the party in the state.

“We have observed with profound consternation that this action, which was taken without due consultation and approval of the NWC, contravenes not only the constitution of the party but also the principles of democratic governance. This is an overreach of his office and constitutes a blatant usurpation of the powers of the NWC. It is an intentional attempt to undermine the reconciliation process within Delta APC, as his actions have created unnecessary confusion and division, which runs contrary to the spirit of unity and cohesion that the reconciliation committee sought to achieve.

“Unfortunately, his mischievous antics have not only undermined the collective decision-making process of the party’s leadership but have also created unnecessary division and discord among party members in Delta state. The role of leadership within the state chapter of the party is a collective and collaborative process involving critical stakeholders, in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines. But by arrogating to himself the power to confer leadership, Barr. Felix Morka has acted beyond his official mandate and has brought the integrity of the party’s structure into chaos and disrepute.

“We strongly condemn these actions as they constitute a clear abuse of his office and a flagrant breach of the APC constitution, which mandates that party officers act in accordance with decisions of the NWC and in the best interests of the Party.

Barr. Morka’s statements and actions indicate that he is executing the personal agenda of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to the detriment of the party’s cohesion and reconciliation efforts.

His actions have further deepened divisions within Delta APC and called into question the credibility of the reconciliation process initiated by the party leadership.

“The irrefutable and irresistible conclusion to be drawn here is that Barr. Felix Morka is now the national publicity secretary of Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, not that of the APC.

By his outrageous conduct, he has not only desecrated the oath of allegiance to the party he swore to uphold but has acted treacherously against the principles of unity and progress, the very core tenets that symbolise the essence of the party, by failing to observe these principles in the discharge of his official duties.

“As a party officer, the National Publicity Secretary is expected to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency and collective decision-making. By acting arbitrarily and without due authorisation of the NWC, Barr. Felix Morka has displayed a clear abuse of his office and a violation of the party’s established protocols. His continued tenure in office poses a significant threat to the stability and unity of the party, particularly in Delta state.

“In light of the above, we hereby call on the National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee to, as a matter of urgency, curb the excesses of Barr. Felix Morka by taking immediate disciplinary steps to relieve him of his position as the National Publicity Secretary to protect the integrity of the Party.

“We trust that the National Working Committee will take swift action to address this matter in the interest of peace and unity of the Party.” it stated.
