Ebonyi Govt Trains 100 Youths In Vocational Skills

No fewer than 100 youths drawn from  different parts of Ebonyi State have been trained by the state government on a 3-Month Intensive Vocational Training Programme to become skilled, self-reliant, and economically vibrant.

The Special Assistant to the State Governor on New Media, Mr. Leo Oketa said that the programme which was launched on the 15th of August 2025 was completed on  November 15, 2025.

He maintained that to support their journey, the state government has also distributed tools and materials which include, Laptops, Solar installation toolkits, Interior design software, financial tips and other trade-specific equipment to the youths.

Mr. Oketa noted that the items distributed are not just tools but are gateways to financial independence.

He stated that the initiative, organised by the Ebonyi State Ministry of Skill Development and Job Creation in partnership with Genolanor Interior Design Abuja, stands as a powerful testament to the governor’s unwavering dedication to transforming the lives of Ebonyi youths through practical, market-driven skills development.

“In today’s competitive and technologically advanced world, young people need more than traditional classroom learning. They need skills that work. Governor Nwifuru’s administration has been firm on this truth, as clearly outlined in the People’s Charter of Needs, where the promotion of vocational and technical education remains a core pillar of his reform agenda.”

Mr. Oketa said that the training programme focused on four major skill clusters, ICT, Building, Construction, and various forms of production adding that the programme is aimed at ensuring that participants gained knowledge that directly aligns with the demands of today’s job market.

“The trainees received intensive instruction in, Interior Design (space planning, color harmonization, furniture concepts, Solar Installation (panel installation, maintenance, troubleshooting), ICT and Digital Skills (Microsoft Office, web design, data analysis, graphics design, and more.

“These modules were delivered by industry professionals, ensuring that beneficiaries not only learned theory but also mastered practical skills that can immediately translate into employment or entrepreneurship.

“By the end of the programme, participants had significantly improved in their chosen areas, with many already planning to launch their own businesses. Confidence has grown. Creativity has blossomed. And a new generation of skilled Ebonyi youth is emerging, ready to contribute meaningfully to the economy.

“Ebonyi youths are rising- skilled, confident, and ready for the future, courtesy of Governor Francis Nwifuru.”
