Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigerian Railway (FEPPPAN) has commenced sensitization of about 13,000 members on the ‘I am alive’ verification exercise organised by Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to identify retired civil servants that are still alive for necessary action.
The chairman of the association, Alhaji Salami Adeojo, who dropped this hint yesterday in Lagos at a meeting with Nigerian Union of Pensioners (Railway Branch) pointed out that the verification exercise is for all retired civil servants ranging from soldiers, police officers, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, federal government parastatals and ministries amongst others.
He told members that officials of PTAD are currently going round the country for the verification adding that the officials will soon be in the South West to conduct verification for all civil servants and those pensionable in the private sector.
Adeojo pointed out that when the PTAD officials arrive for the verification a text message will be sent to each of the pensioners who did verification in 2019.
According to him “the beauty of this verification exercise is that unlike the past when retired civil servants queue for verification under the scorching sun pensioners require android phones to complete their verification process after logging in into the website of PTAD and put in their personal data (code number) and bank account number.”
