The patron, Former Councilors Forum, Danladi Etsu Zhin has called on the newly elected executive members of the forum, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to set up structures to bring development closer to rural dwellers.
Zhin made the call during the forum’s national convention held in Kuje area council, where the election of national executives, to pilot the affairs of members across the country, was held.
Zhin, who is a former chairman and councilor in Kuje area council, asserted that the APC ex-Councilors’ Forum was an opportunity to give sense of belonging to all councillors, especially the former ones.
He stated that councillors were the only people closer to the grass root people and should be provided with a platform to contribute for effective development of their people.
The former chairman, who is also the FCT commissioner of public complaint commission described the forum as political mobilisers that needed full attention of all areas, to boost development across the local governments in the country.
He said the idea was initiated as a means of connecting government to the people at local level, as well as ensuring APC’s victory at the forth coming election, from presidency to other positions.
In their separate acceptance speech, the forum chairman, Hon. Egop Egah from Rivers State and the secretary, Hajia Aisha Yakubu pledged their commitment to doing all that would connect political office holders together.
