Daurama Foundation, a Nigerian non-governmental organisation dedicated to improving lives of women, girls and underserved communities across Nigeria through advocacy, education, and community-driven projects, has reaffirmed its commitment to impactful initiatives that bring relief to citizens and inspire its partners.

The founder, Dr Samira Buhari, expressed gladness at the organisation’s notable strides since its inception in February this year. She highlighted the foundation’s focus on improving health outcomes and advocating for the rights of women and girls through education, outreach and community engagement.

“We are humbled by the impact we have made and remain committed to achieving even more through collaboration with local, regional, and global organisations that share our passion for supporting the less privileged in our communities.

“We’re incredibly appreciative of what we have accomplished this year. From providing educational support to underprivileged children to implementing community-based health programmes, ensuring access to potable water for internally displaced persons (IDPs), empowering women, and fostering communities that stand against violence, our team has worked tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve,” she said.

Among the highlights of 2024 was the foundation’s Ramadan Relief Initiative which provided essential food items and supplies for residents of Kuchingoro IDP Camp in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), offering much-needed relief and a shared sense of hope.

To commemorate World Health Day 2024, the foundation partnered organisations including Medform Clinics to offer free health checks—such as blood pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments and health education sessions—while promoting awareness of quality healthcare and universal health coverage. On the World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the foundation tackled menstrual health and hygiene challenges head-on, reaching girls in the FCT and Borno State with impactful education and essential supplies.

The foundation also brought clean water to residents of Kuchingoro IDP Camp, marking a significant achievement in its efforts to enhance community well-being. Another major milestone was the premiere of Voices Within, a docudrama amplifying survivors’ stories of gender-based violence. Premiered during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the event sparked critical dialogue and received widespread acclaim. The film is now available on YouTube.
