The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, (FUOYE) on Wednesday unveiled its research development policy with the resolve to raise between about N300 million annually to pursue research programmes and innovations.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, officially unveiled the document in Ado Ekiti at a capacity building workshop organised by the management for FUOYE academic staff.
Professor Fasina said the document would serve as a compass for academic staff and show the pathway to greatness in the areas of innovation and radical development of the institution.
He said any university that can’t place a high premium on research is dead under the 21st century economy.
The workshop, according to him, was conceptualised to broaden the staff’s horizons, on how best to run a university system for effective research and academic work under a modern economy.
“Let me say this, any university without a research policy is dead. We are sharpening our research policy and this is going to be an annual event, because we believe so much in research as an institution.
“As scholars, we must place high priority on research. Our staff are being nominated for TETFUND oversea studies and this will help our quest for research”, he stated.
