It was also learnt that the police officers, who were fewer in number, were attacked with clubs and chased away with machetes by the suspected  herders.

Sources said the police officers are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Otu.

Three of the suspected  herders were, however apprehended through the combined efforts of the police and the state security apparatus, Amotekun when they came for reinforcement.

It was also learnt that the  herders had been warned by security agents and the Seriki Fulani of the town popular known as Warago, not to carry harmful objects while going around the communities, particularly markets  as some residents and traders had been  injured with dangerous weapons whenever there were disagreements.
