***Urges Fashola To Offer Free Accommodation To Victims.
Former Deputy National Chairman, South, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Atona Oodua of Yorubaland, Chief Olabode George, has called on the Lagos State government to ensure that its officials, who are responsible for not doing the right thing and the right time to prevent incessant building collapse in the state are brought to book and prosecuted.
George said this after visiting victims of the Ita Faji building collapse, currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital on Broad Street, Lagos.
Recall that a building in Ita Faji on Lagos Island, in which a private school was located, had collapsed last week, leaving 20 people, mainly school children dead, with several others injured.
George also called on the Minister of Works, Power and Housing and former governor of the state, who he said has many empty buildings in the area to offer free accommodation to those who are rendered homeless by the disaster, pending when they would be able to stand on their feet.
He also said that those blaming government for the ongoing demolition of distressed houses in Lagos Island are ignorant.
During the visit, George commiserated with school children who sustained varying degrees of injuries and their parents who were on ground.
