British monarch, King Charles III, has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but it was said not to be prostate, according to a statement on Monday by Buckingham Palace.

The cancer was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate, but the type of cancer troubling the king was not made public and no further details were being shared on the stage of cancer or a prognosis. However, the 75-year-old monarch is said to have begun “regular treatments” on Monday.

Buckingham Palace said the King “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

The King informed both his sons personally about his diagnosis and Prince William was said to be in regular contact with his father.

The second son, Prince Harry, spoke to his father and will be travelling to the UK to see him in the coming days. Harry lives in the United States with his family.
