The Kano State Government said it has invested more than ₦928 billion in 1,508 development projects across the state’s 44 local government areas since Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assumed office, with 799 projects already completed and the remaining 709 at various stages of execution.

The Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, disclosed this during a press briefing on the administration’s infrastructure and development programmes.

According to Sumaila, the projects span critical sectors, including road infrastructure, urban renewal, transportation, education, healthcare, water supply, security and other public services, reflecting the government’s commitment to accelerating socio-economic development across the state.

He clarified that the figure does not include 619 constituency projects currently being implemented through members of the Kano State House of Assembly in the state’s 44 local government areas.

Providing a breakdown of the projects, the commissioner said contracts worth about ₦169 billion have been awarded for urban renewal initiatives, including road rehabilitation, drainage construction and other infrastructure upgrades within the Kano metropolis.

He added that the administration is constructing five-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas under contracts valued at more than ₦118 billion, a move aimed at improving connectivity and opening up rural communities to economic activities.

Sumaila further disclosed that the government approved contracts exceeding ₦6.8 billion for the construction of Kano State Neighbourhood Watch divisions in 36 local government areas to strengthen community-based security and improve public safety.

According to him, rural infrastructure projects covering education, healthcare and other social amenities across the state’s 44 local government areas account for more than ₦397 billion, while additional ongoing projects are valued at over ₦255 billion.

He said the Ministry of Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation remains committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and value for money through rigorous monitoring of all government projects and strict compliance with approved engineering standards.

“The Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation remains committed to ensuring value for money and quality project delivery through effective monitoring of all developmental projects across Kano State,” Sumaila said.

The commissioner also appreciated stakeholders for their continued support of the Yusuf administration’s development agenda, assuring residents that the government would sustain investments in infrastructure and public services aimed at improving living standards and driving inclusive development across Kano State.
