Life is unpredictable. If any one of us ever forgot that simple law, Covid-19 made sure it found its way back into our consciousness. Things changed so drastically that it was hard to find one’s bearings in the midst of it all.

Nothing was spared the misfortune of finding themselves ill-prepared, from businesses to individuals to institutions. The real estate world also had its moments when it could have swayed one way or another. But two years since the pandemic, what does the future look like for the real estate industry? American real estate developer Laquittah “Kiki” Freeman makes some predictions.

Go Tech:

For Kiki, the real estate industry will be tilting towards technology more than ever. No surprises there as she adds, “2022 and beyond will see a generous spike in competition among real estate players. The battlefield will now be the internet, where companies will compete with each other on platforms like Zillow and Trulia to get top listings. Apart from that, virtual tours and 3D walkthroughs will also dominate the market as they enable a new era of property search.”

Real Estate Agents Will Either Prosper Or Perish:

The internet has impacted all spheres of life. And in the name of comfort, it has contributed to the eradication of several traditional jobs. Laquittah “Kiki” Freeman believes that “in order to outsmart the internet gauntlet, agents will have to reimagine their negotiation skills. They’ll have to up their research game and know their clients better than they know themselves and thus stay one step ahead of their demands. It’s not going to be easy. Agents will have to be on the move – mentally and physically – in order to match the growing and more sophisticated needs of the customer.”

Green Building Practices:

Sustainable development projects have been sprouting here and there. Kiki believes that 2022 and beyond will be “their time to shine. Eco-friendly housing, which is compliant with new environmental laws, is set to become all the rage in the future.”

Only time will tell whether Laquittah “Kiki” Freeman’s predictions will stand the test of the future.
