In keeping with the spirit of love and care for one another, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence has donated goodie bags to its host and two neighbouring communities to ease their pains and help them overcome the effect of COVID-19 lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT).
The Corps commandant general, Muhammad Gana Abdullahi who explained that the move is to boost their morale said, “we felt this was one of those things we needed to do to cheer them and say they have not been forgotten. This is to say they must keep at it, because they have to stay safe.
The Civil Defence boss who also revealed that the Corps has been sensitising the populace on precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic added that they distributed hand sanitisers , buckets and detergents in market places and others.
Gana added that the palliatives donated to the communities was a voluntary effort from staff of the Corps, saying they have being able to raise over N1 million to buy food stuff and distribute to the needy.
Earlier, while distributing the packages, the deputy commandant general Technical, Nathaniel Ubong enjoined other government agencies and organisations to join hands in helping communities around them.
According to him, “This donation is part of our palliative measure to show social responsibility on our side as government has directed. The content cuts across food items, rice, indomie, toiletries etc.
