The Nigerian Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Alhaji Hassan Ardo, says the multi-billion naira Mambilla Hydro Power Project in Taraba will provide jobs for at least 75,000 people.
Addressing a rally in Gembu, headquarters of Sardauna local government area yesterday, Ardo said the dam project would improve the livelihood of millions of Nigerians, particularly those in the immediate environment of the project.
“All the current and past conflicts in the area over land will be brought to rest because several job opportunities will be available for the youths.
“The people of Sardauna local government area and Taraba at large cannot afford to refuse to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari for the singular decision to actualise the project that has been on the drawing board for more than 40 years.
“I advise the people of the state to vote for the APC all through so that they can enjoy full and uninterrupted dividends of democracy,’’ Ardo said.
The envoy called for peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups to maximise the benefits of Federal Government projects, programmes and services.
He also described the recent Mambilla crisis as `very unfortunate, ’ warning against the politics of religion and ethnicity.
“Some failed politicians who have run out of ideas will be trooping in with bags of money to preach religion and ethnicity.
“Please collect the money but vote for APC to carry out its people-oriented programmes.
