National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has pleaded with the federal government to confirm the acting Rector of the federal polytechnic, Auchi, Dr.. TPL. Momodu Sanusi Jimah.
The National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Comrade Odebunmi Idowu made the appeal in Abuja, Thursday while addressing newsmen on the state of the institution. Idowu said the longevity of the Rector in acting capacity has given rise to the political tension in the polytechnic hence calling on the government to act fast.
He said in the spirit of patriotism to President Buhari’s Anti corruption agenda, the body has pass vote of confidence on the leadership of the management of Auchi Polytechnic, led by Jimah for his giant stride in fighting corruption as a former SUG president Alumnus who has contributed greatly to the growth of the institution as a student leader, lecturer and now acting Rector of the same institution.
“The performance of the acting Rector and his management team is satisfactory in all ramifications and as such, the federal government of Nigeria is enjoined to, as a matter of urgency, confirm the appointment of Jonah as the substantive Rector of the federal polytechnic, Auchi. More so that he is among the three shortlisted successful candidates in the just concluded Rectorship interview of the polytechnic,” he added.
The body further said it has become necessary to enlighten the general public that the mixed feelings that that lead to the protest of Auchi Polytechnic students to the Ministry of Education in October have been discovered to be motivated by the enemies of the institution who misguided the students with financial inducement to revolt against the present management of the institution.
