Body of the pharmacy graduates of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) produced since 1971 have declared their readiness to the enhancement of academic activities in the ivory tower.
The OAU alumni, under the aegis of the Great Ife Pharmacy Alumni Association (GIPAA), the umbrella body of all pharmacists produced by OAU since 1971 gave the assurance at the weekend when they converged on the university’s campus in Ile – Ife to celebrate the centenary anniversary of the Faculty.
The alumni said they will ensure that the university attains the most envious heights amongst the university communities of the world.
GIPAA also used the occasion to turn sod for the construction of its proposed ultra- modern Pharmacy Students hostel at the university’s new student hostel site in Ife.
In his address, GIPAA Global Chairman, Otunba Olalekan Asuni said the overall goal of the association is to create a global community of the “Great Ife Pharmacy for excellent teaching and learning experience” in the Faculty.
Asuni disclosed that the association has resolved to deploy its global network to galvanise members towards brainstorming on how the association can add tremendous value to the Faculty in the areas of attracting scholars, as well as mobilizing grants for research and other scholastic endeavours.
“From now, Laboratory and drug manufacturing equipment that can be sourced from both institutional and industrial landscapes will be brought into Ife to change our narrative from just a centre of theoretical training, to a Centre of Excellence in Pharmacy Education.
