Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths Worldwide has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use his official visit to Imo State to reassure the South East people of his administration’s readiness to address all the myriad of problems facing the zone.
President Buhari is expected to be in Imo State today for his working visit to the state.
The national youth leader Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Damian Okafor in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP said South East has been neglected and marginalised and urged the president to address all the injustices against it.
He said the marginalisation of Ndigbo has proven to them that they are enjoying a virtual relationship with the people that had promised to put the past behind, adding that a situation where an Igbo man is not considered worthy to be appointed into key security structures of the country even when the region has fallen under constant attack needs to be addressed.
He noted that basic infrastructural development of the region has been neglected by the central government.
He said the Federal Character Commission saddled with the responsibility of ensuring equitable distribution of job opportunities in the country appears to be working against the Igbo nation.
The socio-cultural organisation also called for total calm in all the length and breadth of the zone and encouraged all Igbo youths to come out en masse to receive the president.
