Plateau State Government has taken decisive steps to recover and reclaim assets illegally occupied by some persons within the Riders Park premises in Jos, the state capital.
LEADERSHIP reports that this action marks a significant turning point in the ongoing efforts to restore, redevelop, and reposition the park as a modern, functional transport hub that reflects the renewed vision of the present administration.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of Plateau Express Services Group, Hon. Samuel Gwott, while speaking to our correspondent on the recovered assets, described the recovery as a “new benchmark” for the organisation’s infrastructure advancement and service optimization.
According to him, the good people of Plateau State have long desired a modern, organised transport park, adding that this recovery is a significant step toward realising that dream.
“We are confident that by 2026, Plateau Express will be on the right track to delivering a fully developed Riders Park that meets the highest standards of public transport and commuter satisfaction.
“PESG also expressed deep appreciation to the Secretary of the State Government, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Development, the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) and the Ministry of Transport, for their collaboration and support in making this progress possible.
According to him, this milestone underscores the state government’s commitment to reforming public infrastructure and restoring the integrity of government assets, while positioning Plateau Express as a leading force in Nigeria’s evolving transport sector.
He commended the leadership of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for demonstrating commitment and translating intentions into visible action, adding that the success recorded in Terminus and Kugiya clean-up exercises paved the way for the efficient operation of the Tincity Metro Bus Service.
Gwott further stated that with the latest intervention, the administration has proven that progress is best achieved through accountability and structure.
