All is now set for the first ever national conference on the menace of begging and almajiranci taking place today in Arewa House, Kaduna.
The event, organised by the Centre for Qur’anic Reciters of Nigeria, is going to feature key members of the Ulama, who will brainstorm towards finding s lasting solution to the problem bedevilling the society. The event will also feature presentation of special awards on some personalities that have played key roles in setting up of tsangaya schools and in displaying religious tolerance. They include President Muhammadu Buhari, former presidents Ibrahim Babangida and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as governors Nyesom Wike, Nasir el-Rufa’i, former governors Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, Engineer Rabi’u Kwankwao and Malam Isa Yuguda, among others. Also to be honoured are the Sultan of Sokoto and three other emirs.
In a press release signed by President of the of the Centre, Sheikh Hassan Musa Minna, he emphasised that the organising committee has worked round the clock to ensure a seamless event.
