Men of the Operation Zenda based on a tip off has arrested a five member gang of armed robbers including a female, terrorising motorist/commuters along Vandeikya-Adikpo road.
The police public relations officer, Moses Yamu who confirmed this to newsmen in Makurdi explained that items recovered from them included two locally fabricated guns, one expended cartridge, three 9mm live ammunition five cutlasses and one small axe.
Other recovered items are two polythene bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, three black jackets and assorted charms being used for their operations, new assorted cloths, eight handsets, one laptop and one motorcycle.
According to the PPRO, the suspects had confessed to be the ones robbing people on that axis and the lady among them usually keeps their arms after every operation.
In another development, men of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) while on stop and search at Sati Agirigi Village at Katsina Ala-Takum road sighted two persons on a motorcycle and in an attempt to escape, they were given a chase where they dropped their handbag containing 55 ammunition of various calibres and some dangerous charms.
The command in another operation also arrested six suspects who confessed to belong to a gang of nine members terrorising unsuspecting members of the public along Gboko-Ugbema-Katsina Ala axis and dispossessing them of their valuables.
The PPRO however quoted the Commissioner of Police Ene Okon’s commitment to rid the state of all forms of criminality and as well appreciating the good people of the state for their cooperation in the fight against crime.
