Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have reportedly arrested popular singer, Cynthia Morgan, for cyberstalking Benin’s crown prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare.

The singer was said to have been apprehended on Monday after she was alleged of cyberstalking the prince since 2020 while making claims of him appearing in her dreams.

The development was made known in an Instagram post by an Edo-based blogger, @Edopride, who shared a video of the singer being apprehended and escorted into a car from her house.

The blogger also shared a copy of the petition the prince sent to State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, titled, “Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan” dated May 4, 2024.

The petition read, “We act for Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare, hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client,’ and on whose instructions we now write you concerning the above matter in the manner appearing hereunder.

“We are informed by our client that one Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan (also known online as “Iamcmglobal” and “trulymadrina”) has been desperately trying to contact him against his wish. The said Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan has gone as far as physically trailing our client to his workplace, and when she saw she was not getting the attention she so desperately seeks, she resorted to publishing lies, slurry, and other defamatory statements against him on her Instagram story sometime in 2020 and has continued such publications till date.

“The same offending material was picked up and republished by different blogs and news outlets all around the country. In the said publications, she has called our client a wicked prince who was bewitching and oppressing her in her dreams. We attach herewith pictures of the online posts and the various online blogs that picked it up.”

According to the petition, rather than discuss the issue with her online or confront her, the Prince took the most honourable route by instructing a law firm to write a solicitor’s letter warning her to desist from such further acts.

The petition, however, added, “Rather than take heed, she continued to harass and stalk our client online, much to his annoyance and against his wish.

“Our client, despite his high pedigree, is also a Nigerian who is entitled to his constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy like any other citizen. Our client just wants to enjoy his right to privacy and be left alone from whatever crisis of the mind the said Cynthia Morgan may be going through.”

The prince further said that Morgan had been contacting him through various telephone lines, which were immediately blocked, and is seeking a stop to her action.

However, when contacted for a reaction, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he couldn’t confirm the arrest, adding that he has not been briefed on the matter.

“I am not aware of the arrest and I have not been briefed either,” he stated.
