NNPC Limited on Wednesday night announced a major shake-up in its top management team with Segun formerly EVP (Downstream), now replacing Umar Ajiya as CFO.

NNPCL, in a statement by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Segun Soneye, said: “The Board of Directors of NNPC Limited is pleased to announce a series of strategic leadership appointments. These changes reflect our continued dedication to enhancing corporate governance, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring long-term success in Nigeria’s energy sector.

“The following key appointments have been made: Mr. Adedapo A. Segun has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Segun previously served as the Executive Vice President, Downstream, where he made significant contributions to the company’s downstream operations.”

Welcoming the development, the chairman of House of Representatives Committee (Downstream) said Dapo Segun has the capacity to boost NNPCL’s revenue, which is needed for Nigeria’s development.

Ugochinyere who represents Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State in the House, said the appointment of Segun as NNPCL’s Chief Financial Officer will increase the national oil company’s profitability and enhance its status as accelerator for the country’s economic growth.

“We worked closely with Dapo Segun as EVP Downstream and we know his character. He is not wasteful but meticulous, humble, listening and a professional with over 27 years experience.

“Coming at a time the NNPCL is working towards reformation and more profitability, he will surely excel in the new role and made the vision of the company for a country with stable energy sector realisable.

“It is on record that the new NNPCL CFO led the negotiation and closing of financing initiatives to raise billions of US Dollars and has laid a solid foundation for the emergence of impending NNPC Limited as a Public Limited Liability Company.

“A seasoned boardroom strategist, Dapo has served as Chairman and Non-Executive Director of various companies in the real estate, medical services, information technology, and oil and gas sector.

“With this background and antecedents, we are confident that Dapo Segun will turn around the revenue fortunes of the NNPCL for Nigerians to reap the fruits thereof. As a committee, we assure the CFO of our cooperation and support for him to succeed. We also urged him to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him,” Ugochinyere added.
