Members of the “Zone C” chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) have opted for the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, as their Kwara Central Senatorial District choice and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa, as the next governor of Kwara State.
They said that the adoption of the Saraki and Atunwa and other candidates of the PDP in the upcoming polls was informed by their impressive performance in the offices they have served.
Addressing a news conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, NANS public relations officer in the zone, Comrade Adebayo Kayode, said that the election of Saraki and Atunwa would facilitate the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
Kayode explained that the students’ body had weighed the political parties contesting election in Kwara Central Senatorial District and discovered that only the PDP stood out while Saraki remains the best man for the office.
He said that the group resolved to queue behind Saraki due to his love and affection for students and youths in the zone.
Kayode, who addressed journalists alongside other NANS leaders, maintained that the group had watched with keen interest Saraki’s political ideology and concluded that it was tailored towards establishing an egalitarian society.
He said: “As critical stakeholders in the country’s scheme of things, we have watched, with keen interest, his political ideology which revolves around the need to provide an egalitarian society. Those, who are privileged to have direct interface with Senator Saraki, will agree with us that he is a man with a very large heart. Past events have shown that Dr. Saraki believes in the progress of the youths.
“Today, leaders of NANS Zone ‘C’, Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kwara State, National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and Emirate Students Union are here to drum support for the Senate President to return to the Senate,” he said.
