Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has suspended 12 doctors, convicted five and directed the Medical and Dental Council to remove the names of three doctors from the register of medical practitioners in Nigeria.
The affected doctors were found guilty by the tribunal of gross misconduct in a professional respect.
The tribunal also struck out charges against seven doctors even as it discharged and acquitted 10 others.
This was contained in the report of the tribunal for the period of 2019 to 2021.
According to the report, the doctors whose names are to be removed are Dr Yakubu Hassan, Koji-Jimeta Clinic and Maternity, Jimeta Yola, Dr Sunday Elusoji, University of Benin Teaching Hospital and Dr Stephen Oludare, Alniyemola Philadelphia Specialist Hospital, Apapa, Lagos.
The report hinted that Stephen’s name had been erased from the medical register during the ongoing session of the tribunal.
Those suspended doctors are Umar Nasiru Ibrahim – Al Noor Clinic and Maternity, Angwan Rogo, Jos Plateau State (three months suspension (served), Dr Nwikwu Mezie, Vitalis-De Vital Care Hospital, Ojo Lagos State (six months suspension, sewed), Jamilu Muhammed – Martha Bamaiyi General Hospital. Zum, Kebbi State (six months suspension, served) and Musa Danjuma – 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna (three months suspension, served).
Others are Dr. Godwin Chukwuma, Madunkor – Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Delta State, six months suspension (sewed), Dr. Anunobi Chijioke, Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Delta State. Six months’ suspension (has Appealed against the decision), Dr. Charles Ikeji, Kefland Family Hospital, Apo Mechanic Village Abuja. Six months’ suspension (served), Dr. Terhemba Lan -360 Clinic and Maternity, Mpape, Bwari, FCT. Six months’ suspension (sewed), Dr. Mukaila Oyewunmi Oladipo, R-Jolad Hospital, Gbagada Lagos State, three months suspension (sewed) and three others.
