The Kogi state government has approved the appointment of Solomon Dele Owoniyi, a retired Nigeria Custom and Exercise officer, as the new Obaro of Kabba after two years after the demise of Chief Michael Olobayo, former Obaro of Kabba.
It would be recalled that the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Tuesday this week promised the visiting executives of Okun Development Association(ODA), that a new Obaro would be named within the week.
The appointment was part of several resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Bello at the Government House, Lokoja, the State capital.
Briefing newsmen on the development, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Abubabar Ohere, congratulated Okun people on the appointment of the new Obaro.
He said that the new monarch is expected to use his vast experience in the public service to unite his people and the entire state.
The state, he revealed, has also upgraded the stool of the Maiyaki of Kupa in Lokoja Local Government Area of the state from second class to first class status.
The monarch, it was revealed, has suffered stagnation for too long, an injustice, he said, the present administration has come to correct.
Other vacant stools in the state which have been filled are; Chief James Abalaka as Ejeh of Ofu, Chief Simon Ujah, Ejeh Olamaboro and Alhaji Muhammed Bello as the new Ohi of Adavi.
