The Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Prof Enefiok Essien, has administered matriculation oath to 12,680 new intakes of the institution, charging them to respect the rights and uphold the ideals of the university at all times.
Speaking at the 25th matriculation ceremony which held at the campus’s mini stadium on Thursday, Essien, used the occasion to warn against examination malpractice, stressing that any student caught would be sanctioned appropriately.
“Let me remind you that the University of Uyo has zero tolerance to examination malpractice, and so you have to conduct yourselves in order not to fall a victim of exam malpractice”.
He cautioned them against involving in unnecessary distractions and activities that could marred their future, saying that in everything they do they should always allow God almighty to guide them to avoid falling into temptation.
The professor of law who congratulated the new students, revealed that 20,000 candidates sought for admission into the University, but only few of them were successful.
He stressed that even if nobody congratulated them, they should congratulate themselves and work hard by attending lectures all the time in order to excel in their academic career and be in the honour roll of the University by attaining a cumulative grade point of 4.5 which always come with a price.
High light of the event was the administration of the matriculation oath of the University on the new students.
