Residents of Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State have been thrown into mourning after two women were gruesomely murdered and their home set on fire by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

The victims identified as Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu were both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini.

Reports said the unidentified assailants brutally stabbed the first wife before igniting the fire that razed the house.

A stepson of the deceased, Anas Shu’aibu, told newsmen that the attack occurred on Wednesday around 12 noon while the husband and his sons were away at their various workplaces.

“We didn’t realise anything was wrong until my father called me at night, asking me to come home. When we got there, we found the burnt body of one of them while the other was stuck in the bathroom. When we finally managed to break down the door, we found her dead as well,” Shu’aibu explained.

He further revealed that at first, they assumed the victims died from a normal fire outbreak, but further investigation showed that the incident was a purposeful attack that led to their deaths.

Alhaji Ashiru expressed deep sorrow over the incident and prayed for his wives’ souls.

He called on security agencies to unmask the killers and bring them to justice.” They killed my wives and then set one of the bodies on fire. I still don’t know why they carried out this wicked act,” the grieving husband lamented.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and added that investigations were ongoing.
