The United States (US) Ambassador to Nigeria, William Stuart, has admonished Nigerians to be proud of their country.
He stated this during a visit to Sokoto State governor, Hon Aminu Tambuwal in Sokoto, yesterday.
Stuart, who insisted that a nation’s greatness is embeded in the ability of its people to embrace strength, said, “Nigeria is a nation that needs people who think as Nigerians and leaders who think and act as Nigerian leaders.”
According to him, Nigerians should reflect and identify the challenges facing them as a country to jointly forge on stronger.
“I am also appreciating the existing partnerships between the US, Nigerian government and the various state governments.
“I am also acknowledging the leadership roles you and your colleagues are playing for keeping people alive.
“I am also acknowledging your successes in dealing with the various challenges and strengthening education, access to health for women andchildren.,” Stuart said,
Talking on the role of the media in nation building, the envoy asked the media to strive towards ensuring peace and unity.
For his part, GovernorTambuwal commended the Government and its people hold Nigeria and Nigerians in high esteem.
“Nigeria and the US have been relating very closely on so many issues, as well as promoting world peace,” he added.
