President Bola Tinubu has vowed to provide necessary support towards making the educational institutions globally competitive and technologically powerful.
The president spoke at the commissioning of projects; construction of Department of Architecture building and construction of blocks of offices and classrooms, Faculty of Technology valued at N651.1 million at the University of Ibadan.
He also commissioned TETFUND blocks of classrooms and offices valued at N1.12 billion at the University of Ibadan and The Polytechnic Ibadan respectively.
Also, blocks of classrooms and offices of Faculties Business and Communication Studies, Faculty of Financial Management Studies and Faculty of Science were commissioned at the Polytechnic Ibadan.
This was in addition to the 213 lecturers that were sponsored for postgraduate studies in various disciplines.
President Tinubu who spoke through the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu said the project would in no small measure enhance learning, teaching and learning and improvement of academic standard.
“I wish to reiterate that education forms an integral part of our administration, Renewed Hope Agenda, hence the federal government would continue to provide necessary support towards making our educational institutions globally competitive and technological at the country.
“It is on record that over the years, TETfund through the support of the federal government has performed exceptionally in the provision of physical infrastructure, support for academic staff training and development, book publication, ICY, Research and Development amongst others in public tertiary education across the country.
Earlier, the vice-chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale lauded the intervention of TETFUND, saying it came at a time the institution was celebrating its 75th founder’s anniversary.
He said the building had assisted the department to secure accreditation for some of its courses.
The Rector, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi lauded the intervention of Tetfund, saying the institution was one of the major beneficiaries of the interventions.
He stated that through Tetfund, the institution now has three faculty buildings, three lecture theaters and equipment for various programmes in the institution.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary of TetFund the TetFund Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Arch. Babatunde Olajide, said Tetfund would not relent in its effort towards uplifting tertiary institutions across the nation to aid adequate and standard education.
