Kedco Says Power Sector  Recovery Plan To Help Improve Power Supply

The new strategy and approach by the Federal Government will reset the power sector and address the compress challenges bedeviling the  energy sector, the   Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr Jamil Isayaku Gwamna, has said.

According to him, the Federal government has exhibit  determination and commitment towards revamping the power sector for it to compete with the best global standard practice across the globe.

Gwamna, Saturday,  while addressing workers during the company’s second Empower Conference, held at Porto  Golf Resort in Minjibir, said the Power recovery Plan set out by the fedeal Gverment in collaboration with the World Bank is an indication of the political will on the part of the incumbent administration to seriously address the problems associated with the power sector in the country.

He said the recovery plans  would cripple the activities of  Power Distribution Companies, who are not  involved in genuine transactions in the sector.

He disclosed that, KEDCO has invested huge sum towards ensuring efficient service delivery to power consumers in Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina.

yesterday, regretted that the company is yet to ascend to the expected targeted level.

While commending the workers, from Kano, Jigawa and Katsina for generating N2.1 billion revenue for the outgoing 2017 under review, he further tasked them to intensify their efforts toward satisfying their numerous customers, so as to generate more revenue to catapult the company to another level of progress and prosperity.

He recalled that its customers witnessed the commissioning of complete wiring of and installation of a 500kv Distribution Transformer by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Power, Hon Daniel Asuquo at Farawa layout.

Thereafter, according to him, it was followed by the commissioning of completed Dakatar Small Scales Industrial Injection substation, as well as a state-of-the- art customer care centre by the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, among others.
