Former President Goodluck Jonathan mourns the loss of his elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, who passed away on Thursday, January 11, at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a brief illness.

She was 70 years old.

In a statement issued by Mr Ikechukwu Eze, the Special Adviser on Media to Jonathan, it was revealed that the deceased, affectionately known as Amissi, was a retired teacher, businesswoman, loving mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to serving God and humanity.

Described as a devout Christian, virtuous woman, and role model within and outside her community, Obebhatein’s burial has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2024. The family will announce the details of the funeral rites.
