Nigerian billionaire, real estate mogul, and philanthropist King Ochacho has made a bold claim after announcing his wedding gift of a ₦400 million house to Peller and Jarvis.
The announcement sparked online reactions, and the philanthropist has now explained that he sees that amount as relatively small.
Speaking on a TikTok live with his children, Ochacho said, “₦400 million is no money. ₦400 million is just ₦400 as far as Ice Cream, Money Man or Churchill East Bay is concerned. It’s small money to them.”
He was referring to his kids, who are also upcoming musicians.
He then turned to them and asked if they were the ones who decided to make that gesture. They answered yes.
Ochacho also shared their ages: King is 15, while Ice Cream will turn 13 in a few days.
But the conversation didn’t end with the house gift.
Ochacho revealed there was more money to give away. He announced plans for his family to help students struggling to pay school fees.
According to him, students who haven’t paid can be considered, as long as they provide the school’s direct account details so the fees can be paid straight to the institution.
He specifically said his son, Ice Cream, would be settling the school fees of selected students on Thursday, which happens to be Ice Cream’s birthday.
Ochacho explained that the selection would cut across different parts of the country and urged students who meet the conditions to get ready.
He stressed that they were more than ready to help, describing themselves as “hungry to deliver.”
The moment closed on a lighter note, with laughter in the background as they used the popular slang, “Who dey breathe?”
The video has drawn mixed reactions.
Some online followers feel Ochacho may also be using the generosity to promote his children and their budding music careers. Others argue there’s nothing wrong with using positive publicity to support his kids’ careers, especially when people are being helped in the process.
Many simply focused on the generosity itself and praised him for giving back.
Ochacho has also been known as a low-key philanthropist. In an older video, Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido was seen hailing him and speaking positively about him after Ochacho reportedly gifted him a brand-new Lexus.
And during Peller and Jarvis’ wedding, Ochacho’s son also took to the stage to perform one of his songs.
So while the ₦400 million house gift continues to spark conversation, Ochacho’s latest comments show how he views the amount, describing ₦400 million as just “₦400” when measured against what he considers little money.
